Immerse yourself in the serene soundscape of Tea in the Guitara, a captivating solo guitar work by Ueno Takashi of the acclaimed Japanese band Tenniscoats. This unique album, released by majikick, is more than just a collection of songs; it’s an auditory journey to a tranquil tea garden nestled in the mountains of Kyoto.
Originally created in 2016 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Ujikoen’s tea shop in Osaka, Tea in the Guitara is the second musical project following Compuma feat. Takehisa Ken’s “Something In The Air – the soul of quiet light and shadow layer,” which commemorated Ujikoen’s 150th anniversary in 2015. Ueno Takashi’s guitara compositions are born from improvisational performances and field recordings captured directly within this idyllic setting. Through meticulous editing and mixing by Richard Pearce Horner and Takeshi Azuma, these raw elements are transformed into a cohesive and immersive sonic experience.
The album art itself is a work of art, featuring original drawings by Hiraku Suzuki and evocative photographs by Yoshinori Henguchi, all brought together with design by Kayo Ouchi. This attention to detail extends to the physical product offerings. Fans can choose between a digital download in high-quality formats like FLAC, a physical CD housed in a paper case with a 6-panel insert containing lyrics and photographs, or even a special edition 100% cotton tenugui towel featuring Hiraku Suzuki’s artwork.
Tea in the Guitara offers ten tracks, ranging from short interludes to more extended explorations of sound, totaling approximately 50 minutes of listening pleasure. Each track invites you to lose yourself in the delicate textures and ambient melodies crafted by Ueno Takashi’s guitara.
