As a content creator for guitarplayers.net, I’m always on the lookout for what’s new and exciting in the guitar world. Just like many guitarists, scrolling through social media often reveals interesting and sometimes quirky gear innovations. Recently, a post caught my eye – a video showcasing impact-activated LED guitar picks from PLB World. My initial reaction was a definite “Oh, that’s new!” moment.
This exclamation, familiar to my wife, usually elicits a knowing “If it’s guitar-related, you don’t need it.” However, this time was different. Upon showing her the lightning guitar pick in action, even she admitted it was something truly novel. This sparked my curiosity further, and thankfully, commenting on PLB World’s post led to a fantastic opportunity – they offered to send me one of these intriguing plectrums to test out.
And test it out, I did. My initial impression? It’s undeniably fun. While the light-up feature might be seen as a novelty, the pick itself is surprisingly functional and enjoyable to use. It genuinely brought a smile to my face every time the LED flickered to life.
Let’s take a closer look at the unboxing experience and how this illuminating guitar pick works.
Even before freeing it from its packaging, the novelty was apparent. The anticipation was building.
Once unpackaged, the Lightning Guitar Pick revealed itself to be a substantial, thick plectrum – a feature I’ve come to appreciate in my picks. The grip is comfortable, and the shape is one I personally find ideal. Depending on your playing style and pick attack, the design even suggests multiple picking edges, potentially extending its lifespan.
Durability is always a question, especially with an LED component. While I can’t definitively say how long the LED will last, my initial impression is that it’s built to endure a good amount of playing time before the light gives out. It feels like longevity won’t be an issue in regular use.
Seeing the pick outside of its packaging allows for a better appreciation of its design and functionality.
Capturing the LED in photographs proved to be a challenge. The light is incredibly brief, flashing on and off with each impact. My timing for photos was consistently off, highlighting just how quickly the LED illuminates. However, this rapid flash is actually a positive feature for playing. A prolonged light would likely become distracting and less impactful during actual guitar playing.
The saying goes, “a picture is worth a thousand words.” By that metric, this article is already quite substantial. But to truly experience the Light Up Guitar Pick, a video demonstration is invaluable. Luckily, one exists!
Lightning Guitar Picks—a video demo
Playing with the lightning guitar pick was genuinely enjoyable. It even inspired me to play guitar standing up again, a topic for another post perhaps! It’s safe to say, my guitar mojo is returning, and in time for the new year. The PLB World light up guitar pick is a fun, functional, and eye-catching accessory that’s sure to bring a bit of extra flair to any guitarist’s playing experience.
