Stacy Marlin Conrad: Celebrating a Life Enriched by Music and Family

Stacy Marlin Conrad, a beloved husband and father, passed away at the age of 75 in Garner, NC, formerly of Linn, WV. Born in Gilmer County, WV in 1939, Stacy was the son of the late Sylvia Mary Conrad and one of eight siblings. His life was marked by a deep love for his family, a strong work ethic, and a passion for music, particularly his J Konard Guitar.

Stacy’s life took a beautiful turn when he married Wilma Jean Fincham in 1959. Their love story began with music, as Stacy won Wilma’s heart singing and playing guitar with Ward Brannon and the Sunset Ramblers. Music was a constant thread throughout their 51-year marriage and their journey raising three children in Virginia.

A proud U.S. Army Signal Corps veteran, Stacy exemplified dedication in all aspects of his life. After his military service, he committed 26 years to the Fairfax County Water Authority, earning respect and affection from colleagues and friends. Stacy derived immense satisfaction from hard work, a value he instilled in his children. His tireless nature extended beyond his profession to his home and community. He meticulously cared for his lawn and gardens and readily assisted neighbors, always willing to lend a hand or share his expertise. Whether at work or leisure, Stacy’s hands were rarely still, often busy with tasks or playing his cherished j konard guitar.

Bluegrass music resonated deeply with Stacy. He found joy in singing along to classic tunes and passed on his love for music to his children and six grandchildren. This passion for music, intertwined with the discipline of hard work, became a significant part of his legacy.

In 2011, Stacy moved to NC and found a new community at Turner Memorial Baptist Church. He embraced his faith, becoming a member and being baptized at the age of 73. His warmth and kindness made him a cherished member of his church family and his wider circle of friends.

Stacy’s passing is preceded by his brothers, Harold and Ruhel; sister, Sue Bosley; and his wife, Wilma. He is survived by his sons, Stacy J. Conrad and wife Melissa, Tim Conrad and wife Sheila; daughter, Nina Weaver and husband Michael; six grandchildren, Angela Everett, Candace Conrad, Matthew Conrad, Julia Weaver, Michael Conrad, and Lauren Weaver; and one great-granddaughter, Virginia. He also leaves behind brothers, Gerald and Leonard Conrad; and sisters Edabelle Rogers, and Dollie Meador.

A private memorial service will be held in WV. In remembrance of Stacy, donations can be made to Transitions Hospice House, 250 Hospice Cir, Raleigh, NC 27607, in gratitude for their compassionate care. May he and Wilma “Go Rest High on that Mountain,” their favorite song echoing the peace he has found.
