I’m looking to give my bass guitar a unique makeover using acrylic paints. It currently has a standard red finish that I plan to sand down to create a suitable surface for painting. However, I’m caught between two types of acrylic paint and could use some guidance: artist’s acrylics and multi-surface acrylics.
While I understand that multi-surface paints are designed for better adhesion on various materials like wood and metal – crucial for a guitar – I’m worried about their workability. I want to achieve an impressionistic art style on my bass, requiring the paint to blend and manipulate much like oil paints on canvas. Artist’s acrylics are ideal for such techniques on canvas, but will multi-surface paints offer the same flexibility? Could multi-surface craft paints be suitable for this detailed, artistic approach?
Currently, I have a set of artist’s acrylic paints intended for canvas. Should I proceed with these, or would switching to multi-surface acrylics be a better choice for ensuring the paint properly adheres to the bass guitar? Regardless of the type of paint, will a lacquer coating be necessary to protect the artwork?
Any advice on selecting the best acrylic paint for creating Bass Guitar Painting Art and ensuring its longevity would be greatly appreciated. I’m excited to share photos of the finished, newly painted bass guitar once it’s complete.
