Dovetail and Bolt-On Acoustic Guitar Neck Options
Our acoustic guitar necks are available in two distinctJoinery styles to suit your construction preferences: dovetail and bolt-on.
Dovetail Necks: These necks feature a traditional “V” mortise neck heel, providing a time-honored method of neck-to-body attachment known for its strength and resonance transfer. Matching neck blocks, designed specifically for dovetail joints, are available separately to ensure a seamless and robust connection.
Bolt-On Necks: For builders who prefer a more modern approach or require ease of adjustability, our bolt-on necks offer a straight mortise neck heel. Each bolt-on neck comes with two pre-installed bolts and nuts, facilitating secure attachment to the body without the need for glue. Corresponding neck blocks for bolt-on construction are also sold separately.
14-Fret Acoustic Guitar Neck Specifications
The 14-fret neck option is ideally suited for Dreadnought and other acoustic guitar designs where the neck joins the body at the 14th fret. These necks feature a solid peghead and are pre-slotted to accommodate our Hot Rod Truss Rod (item #2551, 4mm Allen nut, 14-1/4″ long), ensuring optimal neck adjustability.
